Cyprus National Cricket team in European Division 3 championship
Did you know that Cyprus has a national cricket team? Cricket is unheard of, amongst the locals here in Cyprus. But, thanks to the efforts of few English volunteers from the military bases, cricket is slowly being popularised amongst the youngsters with many youth cricket awareness camps being held in many places here.
The Cyprus national cricket team has only two Cypriots, that too south-African born. The rest of the team is made up of Indians, Sri Lankans and Pakistanis who are permanent residents of Cyprus. They also have a website of their own called Cyprus Cricket. Last year, the Cyprus team finished second in the Division 4 championships in Belgium. Due to some fortunate twist of events, Cyprus qualified for Division 3 which is currently happening in Belgium. If you want to follow their matches, keep checking the European Division 3 cricket page for frequent updates and scorecards.
Go on, cheer Cyprus to victory!
I’ve just come back home from a night out with Simon Jones from Interwatch Security. We went to the Cyprus Wales game, what a result!!! Cyprus played fantastic tonight I have to say. Even with Giggs playing Wales wouldn’t of managed the win!!
